Acrylic painting Falls Road, in the North of Ireland by Bernard Scanlan

Falls Road, in the North of Ireland

11 x 14 on cardboard; acrylic. I was in the north of Ireland only once. I was on Falls Road in Belfast, part of the Irish ghetto. Talking with the locals, I was told there were parts of English/Protestant Belfast they would not go because they would get their asses beat. So-called "peace walls" divide the two communities. The north of Ireland reminds me of what Selma, Alabama must have been like in 1962.
