Acrylic painting Second Shift Steelworker, Young's Bar, Southside Pittsburgh, 1977 by Bernard Scanlan

Second Shift Steelworker, Young's Bar, Southside Pittsburgh, 1977

20X16 acrylic, heavily textured with gel and pumice. When I lived in the southside of Pittsburgh in the late 70s and early 80s, I met many men and women connected to the steel mills. This guy always came into Young's Bar after the second shift, dust and grime all over him. He'd immediately order a shot of Kessler's whisky and an Iron City beer. This painting has a nice old frame as well. 2015
